AI video ads

Eight spec ads for brands that don't exist. Each one starts from a one‑page brief and gets finished in DaVinci Resolve.

Watch the eight ads

The eight ads

Three shapes: 16:9 for YouTube and the web, 9:16 for Reels and Stories, and square for the feed. The first four show off the product in live action, and the other four play with style. They all have music, but they start muted, so turn the sound on. The bar across each sheet is its edit: one block per shot, at its real length.

Mistline Coffee

30 seconds · 16:9 · YouTube and the web

From the brief

The coffee is grown high in the mountains, picked by hand and roasted in small batches. The film follows the bean from the farm to the cup.

How it was made

Seven Veo 3.1 Fast clips from Google Flow, each one started from an approved still so the bag and the light match from shot to shot. Gemini TTS reads the voiceover, and a colour grade gives everything the same misty-morning look.

The seven stills, made with OpenAI image generation through Codex.
Sunrise over a sea of clouds and pine-covered ridges Hands picking red coffee cherries Coffee cherries drying on raised beds on a hillside Coffee beans tumbling in a roaster drum Water poured into a pour-over dripper, the kraft coffee bag behind it A woman holding a mug at a window over misty pine hills The kraft coffee bag with a sage band beside a mug, by a misty window
Voiceover
  1. Up here, the day starts above the clouds.
  2. Every cherry is picked by hand.
  3. Roasted slowly, in small batches.
  4. Grown on small farms in the Benguet highlands.
  5. Mistline Coffee.

What went wrong

  • An arm crosses the frame in the coffee-picking shot. Claude Code stepped through it at 4 frames a second to make sure: it stays one arm, with five fingers on every hand.
  • Veo's own sound had a loud snap in it that jumped over the voice. Now the mix keeps the clip sound under the voice the whole way through.

Lumaro Sparkling Calamansi

15 seconds · 16:9 · YouTube and the web

From the brief

It is made with real calamansi juice. It is lightly sweet with a sour bite, and best served over ice.

How it was made

Four Gemini Omni clips made in the Gemini app, three of them using the same product still so the can doesn't change between shots. Gemini TTS reads the voiceover.

The product still, made with Gemini's image generation.
A green can with a blank white label on a wooden table
Voiceover
  1. Calamansi, the Philippine lime.
  2. Lightly sweet, with a sour little bite.
  3. Lumaro Sparkling Calamansi.

What went wrong

  • Omni sometimes cuts to a new angle partway through a clip, so each shot only uses a stretch with no cut in it.
  • When the tab pops, the can shrinks by about a fifth. That shot ends right on the crack.
  • The first on-screen line, "Made with real calamansi juice", ran across the can. Claude Code trimmed it to "Real calamansi."

Kalan Chili Garlic Crisp

12 seconds · 9:16 for Reels and Stories, with a 4:5 cut for Feed

From the brief

The garlic is fried crisp and kept in chili oil. People spoon it over rice, eggs and noodles.

How it was made

Five Veo 3.1 Fast clips from Google Flow, with a jar still made in Flow so the jar stays the same. It's paced for a feed: something moves in the first frame, the brand's on screen by 2 seconds, and there's a cut every 2 to 3 seconds. It works with the sound off, too.

The jar still, made by Nano Banana 2.1 in Flow and used in the two jar shots.
A jar of chili garlic crisp with a black lid on a wooden counter

What went wrong

  • Captions stay out of the top 14% and the bottom 35% of the frame, where Reels and Stories put the account name and buttons. They also stay inside the middle part that Facebook Feed shows.
  • In the spoon shot the jar loses its lid with nobody touching it, so the edit uses a later stretch of that clip.

Dapit Soy Candles

12 seconds · 1:1 · Facebook and Instagram feed

From the brief

The wooden wick crackles. Each candle is poured by hand in small batches.

How it was made

Veo only makes wide and tall video, so it made the four clips wide with the candle in the middle, and the edit keeps the centre square. It's slower than the Reels ad: four shots, 3 seconds each.

The candle still, made by Nano Banana 2.1 in Flow and used in all four shots.
A terracotta soy candle with a wooden wick on a wooden table

What went wrong

  • The opening shot shows the steady flame, not the lighting. In the clip the match showed up already burnt out, and the flame lit before it touched the wick.
  • The third shot's first take had a thicker wick than the first shot, so Veo made it again from a corrected prompt.
  • The titles sit on a soft dark gradient, because white type on cream wax was hard to read.

Tamis Ube Jam

12 seconds · 1:1 · Facebook and Instagram feed

From the brief

Made from real ube, cooked slowly. Good on warm pandesal.

How it was made

Stop-motion claymation from Veo 3.1 Fast in Google Flow, built on clay stills that Nano Banana made in Flow. The titles are in a handwritten face to match.

The two clay stills, made by Nano Banana 2.1 in Flow: close for the first two shots, wide for the third.
A clay jar of purple ube jam with a cream lid, against a lilac wall The same clay jar, small and low in a wide frame

What went wrong

  • Halfway through the spreading shot, the clip shatters into tiles and jumps to a new scene. The edit keeps only the clean second half.
  • After the lid pops off in the first shot, a second lid shows up next to the jar, so that shot ends just before it does.
  • Veo copied the framing of the jar still it was given, which put the end title on the lid. Twice. A wider still with the jar low in the frame fixed it on the third take.

Habi Rattan Bag

15 seconds · 9:16 for Reels and Stories, with a 4:5 cut for Feed

From the brief

It's handwoven. A phone, wallet and keys fit inside. It goes with everything.

How it was made

A creator-style phone video. The woman is AI-generated, and Veo 3.1 Fast voiced her lines right in the clips. The captions repeat what she says, for anyone watching with the sound off.

Two stills, made by Nano Banana 2.1 in Flow: the woman with the bag for the first three shots, the bag on a peg for the end shot.
A woman in her apartment holding up a round rattan bag by its leather strap The round rattan bag hanging from a wall peg
Lines
  1. Okay, I need to show you this bag.
  2. Phone, wallet, keys.
  3. Handwoven, and it goes with everything.

What went wrong

  • Veo made the phone shot twice. The first take turned the round bag into a half-moon with a leather flap.
  • Veo paced the lines its own way: a pause before "bag", and a long one before "it all fits". A Whisper transcript gave the timing of every word, so every cut falls between words. The phone shot ends before "it all fits", and its caption just says "Phone, wallet, keys."
  • Veo made the end shot again from further back. In the first take, the peg and the top of the strap sat right where the brand name goes.

Init Salabat

20 seconds · 16:9 · YouTube and Facebook

From the brief

Salabat warms you up on a cold day, and it's quick to make from the jar.

How it was made

A short story with dialogue: a grandmother and her grandson on a rainy afternoon in Baguio, both AI-generated. Veo 3.1 Fast voiced every line in the clips, and the music sits under them.

Two stills, made by Nano Banana 2.1 in Flow: the grandmother and grandson for shots 1 and 3, the jar for shots 2 and 4.
A grandmother cooking at a stove, her grandson beside her, in a wooden kitchen A jar of ginger tea powder and an enamel mug by a rainy window
Dialogue
  1. Soaked again? Sit.
  2. One spoonful.
  3. Better than my jacket.
  4. Smells good, Lola.
  5. It'll warm you up, Apo.

What went wrong

  • Veo put a third hand in the pouring shot, and Claude Code's review missed it because it only looked at about one frame a second. The second take did the same once the kettle came in. So the shot now ends on the spoonful, before the kettle, and the grandmother's line stops at "One spoonful."
  • In the last shot Veo threw in two lines that weren't in the script, "Smells good, Lola" and "It'll warm you up, Apo". Both stayed. The second is what the brief wanted the ad to say anyway, and it makes no health claim.
  • Flow Music can split a track into stems. The first track for this ad had something in its vocal stem from 16 seconds on, which could have been a voice or just the cello. Claude Code swapped in a second take whose vocal stem is silent apart from one faint blip.

Sabaw Supreme Instant Mami

15 seconds · 16:9 · YouTube and Facebook

From the brief

Rich chicken broth, ready in three minutes.

How it was made

A 1990s Filipino TV commercial on VHS, from Veo 3.1 Fast: soft, saturated tape, snap zooms, a boy hamming it up, and an announcer for the brand name. Flow Music got a brief for a 90s commercial backing track, cheesy keyboard riff included. The boy is AI-generated, and the titles are bold yellow with a hard shadow.

Two stills, made by Nano Banana 2.1 in Flow: the boy for the first shot, the pouch for the other two.
A boy in a striped shirt holding chopsticks over a bowl of noodles A shiny gold pouch against a red background
Lines
  1. Rich chicken broth!
  2. Ready in three minutes!
  3. Sabaw Supreme!

What went wrong

  • The first clip says the brand name at the start and the claim a few seconds later. The edit keeps the claim and saves the brand name for the end.
  • The cooking shot dissolves to the kettle partway through. That stayed in, since a dissolve suits a 90s spot.
  • The end shot stops at four and a half seconds, before a snap zoom that would push the pouch under the brand name.
